I'm sad they didn't do more with the concept. Move combinations is such a cool concept and expanding it would have been much more interesting than Z-moves.

This. They could have added another layer of fun in double/triple battles. It would have been cool if they also worked in single battles, so they'd get more use in the main game, since they're not getting any use in VGC.

I remember people trying to think up all the potential move combos since people thought it wouldn't be just limited to pledge moves. Wasted potential imo

That happens In situations like:Pelipper and Ninetales beign sent out in the same turn or Kyogre and Grouddon Mega evolving in the same turn

Rainbow is basically a free, 4-turn serene grace for all allies, so it surprises me it doesn't get used more often in some kind of meme team that abuses moves with 30% chance to flinch and stuff like that.

The other 2 pledge effects (sea of fire, swamp) are not that great as the first is negated by rain while the second is pointless with thunder wave or tailwind in doubles, so it doesn't surprise me as much.

I was actually pretty hyped for them, and I was looking forward to seeing more move combos in the future
I've always liked the way the anime allowed combo moves, and wanted that in the games
I'm still waiting

They're too weak and they only have 10PP. The only use they have is before if the TM for Flamethrower and Energy Ball isn't available yet. And even then, being exclusive to starters means you're probably never going to see the combo effects, doubly so because they actually have to be used in the right order on the same turn. God forbid if your Fire starter is faster than your grass starter, because you're never going to see the combo effect.

Fusion Bolt/Fusion Flare are 10/10 though.

I used a Mega Zard Y and Venusaur team that I realized would work pretty well with the combo for VGC. However, by the time I thought to use it, Primal Groudon/Kyogre made Zard Y pointless.

caught people off guard in tiny tourney and weakness cup using pledge combos. I use full speed and full HP investment on my fast pledger and full hp and full sp atk on my slow pledger. Tailwind is x2 speed but swamp pledge is x0.25 so their serene grace flinch spam becomes useless.
First turn, i'd use mat block so serperior could use leaf storm to boost sp atk. then next turn, pledge combo with 150 bp move x2 with stab boost.
