I liked it too, but I wish it looked a little more fleshed-out, and that the power plant had a bit more effort put into it. I very much liked the dust clouds of mons chasing the player though, that was good, and the aesthetic was fine imo. I caught a gible there on my first playthrough of X iirc.

Its more similar to Sinnoh's snadstorm area near the resort than to Hoenn or Unova's deserts

I too think they were among the most memorable part of the games, but not really in a good way. I think these routes are too big, and too tedious and boring to go through.

The water labyrinth between pacificlodge and slateport. The new regions doesnt gets labyrinth routers as nice as those from gen 5 and backwards

I assume that everyone hates it based on the annoying way for Charagbug evolution. I love this area for its design and I love how its theme reminds me of Africa by Toto.

Like you said, no one hates it because of the rute itself, but rather they hate that it's necessary and you get access to it so late in the game.
