You lessened the major element of its design (the life vest), added what appear to be spikes on its back for no reason and added a black stripe. That's it. Remove the life vest, which for all intents and purposes you nearly did, and it's just my mom's weird aquatic mammal. Doesn't feel like big enough of a change for a mega, it just looks like a worse Floatzel. I'd advise making it less compact and more lithe so it feels fast and agile, if that's what you wanted to go for. And get a better idea on how to change the life vest, it just looks limp and boring here.

I don't think I did. If anything I expanded it. Now it extends onto its back

The spikes are there to make it feel sharper, similarily to Mega Sceptile, but also to kinda imitate a seat (kinda like camel humps). It's an extension to the spots it has at its back. The black line is there to expand on its "whiskers" and it was inspired by race cars

What exactly makes it feel not agile to you? What do you feel like is absolutely unnecessary?

I'd argue that my design it more different from the original than a lot of official megas. On the other hand, I wanted it to still look recognizable

It's how it looks in the original. It's possible that I made it too small though. Is that the problem?

First of all the point of having mega evolution is powerup. Mega evolution design should always have an impression of a stronger ver of this mon, yet still looks like its unmega form, this design looks nothing like a mega, nor a floatzel or a buizel. Its a mega as you said, but it does not imply MEGA in its design. Its like a fakemon with overly design featured. Stay close to the original form yet adding uniqueness to it.

Disregard your RACER theme if you cant make it more like floatzel. baka

idk. it depends on your approach in the mega. but ALWAYS make sure it would still look like the unmega form of the mon
