Are HMs gone forever or just for Gen 7?

I want field moves to not be constricted to literal attack moves. We don't need to waste a move slot to swim, fly and push rocks. That's always been stupid. Pokemon ranger has the ideal use of field abilities.

If they make a DPPl remake, do you guys think that they'll still use HMs?

This. If anything they should have a move deleter in every single damn pokemon center if they are so afraid of players getting stuck by deleting surf while on the water.

I screwed up my first Diamond playthrough teaching cut to torterra and you don't meet the deleter until something like 7 badges in
