basically, I want a shiny smeargle in colosseum, but the shiny glitches in that game are a pain in the ass, so I'm gonna grab 16 in a modern game (16 * 1/512 chance), release them, and edit a shiny smeargle into colosseum (1 * 1/8192 chance)

basically, I'm forcing myself to deal with the same odds, but bypassing the stupid glitch. I dunno if everyone would consider that fair, but it's what I've settled on.

plus, this current smeargle (#3) chain is sitting on 520 so far, so I doubt It's gonna be the fast route.

Remember, you CANNOT encounter Smeargle first, and then reset for it. Meaning you can't KO it, save, come back, and catch it, because it'll never be shiny then. Save before its trainer battle before you encounter it. Keep an empty party slot so you can check its shininess faster.

Also if i were you i'd throw away your balltism for this pokemon. The master ball exists for a reason.

It's a shiny shadow pokemon form Colosseum. It's among the rarest shinies around, despite having normal odds for the time. Think about it, there's only ~50 pokemon encounters that can be shiny in Colo, as opposed to the hundreds you can go through in mainline. It'll always have the National Ribbon too, showing that it came from Colo.

Gen 3 is my main gen, anything else doesn't interest me as much. I think I reached a personal point where I have enough shinies that they are not as amazing as they were before.

There are 2 shinies I still want to try and get. After that I think I'll stop shiny hunting. I love shinies and I like my shiny Zigzagoon but I think I have enough for now.

My dry spell is over, I've gotten 3 shinies since Monday. Shiny Raikou finally decided to appear in AS, I chained a Shiny Morelull last night (shit nature but there was no way I wasn't leading without Keen Eye), and I just now used my Magikarp swap in Moon for a shiny Smeargle because today is my beagle's birthday. Now I'll probably just do some more Magikarp breeding while I decide what's next.

Older ds's tend to randomly shut off if you shake/bump them too hard. I make it a point to very gently put down my ds whenever I find a shiny, and only pick it up again once I've saved.

It can be really shitty when a shiny struggles to death but it's happened at least twice to me and really you just need to go back to soft resetting for another shiny. With your rayquaza just be patient, sleep is simply the best for preserving the pokemon's pp but you will get rayquaza in any pokeball you want eventually

Is there a way to connect DesMume with Dolphin?
I'm undergoing a project to try and record shinies in all home console games, and so far I'm done with GoD and Stadium 2. Now I want to record them on Battle Revolution.
I got now a Platinum save with I think (?) a complete shiny living Dex, but I have no actual way to move them to actual hardware, so emulation is the next best thing, not to mention I can increase the resolution and make it look prettier.
If it's not possible, what would you say is the most straightforward way to accomplish it?

My first ever perfect shiny, in 22 boxes. Why can't every hunt go like this. Might actually just EV train her and use her as a starter for USM, since I don't have to bottlecap for once. Egg moves were pursuit, me first, fire fang, and thunder fang with intimidate as the ability. Bit of a shame it wasn't male so she could be named "Bling K.Rool," but I really can't complain. Game's sun, was hunting via dog simulator, last shiny hunt was a green doduo named Doydoy with a crappy speed IV from a few months back, fist shiny was a pink dunsparce from Diamond named Lemonade.
