It should have stayed with gyms in the first place - gyms are a staple to the pokémon franchise and removing them in favour for more childish trials, without any battles was a poor move in my opinion. I'm glad this might mean that we are getting gyms back. (I did find the Wela Volcano one funny at least)

Not that anon, but probably because the volcano looks the same as it did in SM, and on the new USUM map, there's no smoke coming out of the whole volcano area, which led people to believe it might be inactive now and that it might have become a real dungeon.
