Sun and Moon did because so many of us were disappointed with XY and ORAS, we all thought that the change in director, it being the 20th anniversary title, the first game in many years after a year with no game, and the "it all comes together" stuff meant they would be amazing 11/10 games to blow everything old completely out of the water.

Jesus, you're right. I've had more fun in hype season than I've had playing the last three games.

BW, undoubtedly. It seemed like there was a leak every day. So much got out before GF intended it to

BW was the most fun with speculation and shitposting without being based in disinformation. XY had the best reactions and craziest shitstorms to official material. SM hype was just cancer in every way.

And on the sites I went to back when, DP hype was pretty nice despite being stretched out over two years primarily consisting of nothing. It was a time of wide eyed innocence, and dreams and hope that could never be crushed.

Sun and moon. Since it took the games forever to get announced the fan reactions were really enthusiastic from that point on. And after UBS got introduced hell broke loose on a whole new level...I remember when everyone was like omg smt-style-superbosses! Please be catchable. Or muh, please dont be catable! Useable at battle tree? Yay, beasts=new meta... And all that story speculation and hopes regarding skull and aether. And alolan forms had a lot of hype and fans too. Its a shame the games couldnt hold up to all of this expectations...
