Will we ever see it again? No, the one in the non-canon movie doesn't count
Nope. They realized after BW they can just use another Charizard to shill.

I'm still convinced that they originally planned to make Ash's Kalos ace Mega Charizard Y before they came up with Jobfrog.
>brought back in the middle of BW out of nowhere
>Y got a decent amount of promotion early on, as if it was originally going to have a larger role than getting shit on in the semifinals
>would have served as a great contrast to Alain's Mega Charizard X, and how Red in Origins also used X

Yes. Obviously. If Ash ever gets a Mega Stone, which he should as it's a big fucking thing, it will be a Charizardite X. Or Y, though much less likely. X is a melee fighter and thus, far more exciting to watch. Y would have to take the back seat and just shoot fire, which makes it much less interesting to watch. There's a reason almost all of Ash's Pokemon are close range fighters.
At this point, Zard is the poster child of Mega Evolution as a concept, as well as just Pokemon. Mega Evolution is an inherently exciting thing for battles, as it provides a Super Saiyan-like power up Transformation. It's a concept the anime will use. Zard, being an older Pokemon, might not come back during season, but at the very least in whatever League we get in SM or Gen 8, the chances of it returning are extremely high.
