Alolan Persian is a really decent support mon. Has Fur Coat, Foul Play, Parting Shot, Fake Out, and Quash, on top of a really good speed tier. It's also immune to that Prankster priority goodness.

That's certainly an improvement over 2015. I don't really know much about the meta nor do I care but why the fuck are half of those shitmons in 2017 there? I can't imagine how you would make some of them work let alone compete with everything else.

Also are there people who seriously use Ultra Beasts besides maybe Buzzwole and Nihilego? I don't see the appeal, I would try anything else even if I was at a slight disadvantage.

Celesteela is the best one competitively though. I also actually really like it so though I disain legends normally, I've even used it a fair amount. Haven't used the two you mention much at all. The least, actually. Just a few battles to see what they were like after training them up and HTing them and then they got Banked.

I do kind of like Nihilego, especially what with it being a special attacker but it just didn't do it for me.

I don't know, it's just the way the UBs were designed were off-putting to me, almost like they aren't really Pokemon. I get that's what they were going for, but still, to me it doesn't seem like something that I would feel compelled to use on my team.

Legendaries are different. The only problems I have with them are that you can't breed them, so you're stuck with what you're willing to SR for, although with Hyper Training that's a little better I guess. That and when every faggot out there feels the need to use one of the same group of legendaries like with the genies a few years ago. I worry that the Tapus are going to turn out similar, which would be a shame because I like them a lot more.

It's because it's alola-dex pokemon only. Because 500 or so pokemon are banned from this year's competition it allows comparatively shittier pokemon to be good. Think of it like a pokemon being good in UU because all the better pokemon aren't allowed.

If I have a Timid Alolan Persian, I can breed a Bold one in a heartbeat. If I have a Timid Tapu Lele, I have to either buy a new game or delete my current one, or try my luck trading for one (which denies another player their Tapu Lele)

Beyond Encore, Perish Song, Haze, and maybe Hypnosis and Hyper Voice, I don't see why anyone would use Politoed over Pelipper unless they had a Mantine or Gyarados on their team. IMO Pelipper can do so much more like Tail Wind, Hurricane, Brine, U-Turn, Knock Off, Soak, Wide Guard, and Air Slash.

If these are the rules of the game, then tough shit, but yes. Games like WoW expect you to grind every character you create to 80 (or whatever the fuck the current limit is) before you can tackle the endgame content and nobody complains or advocates the use of bots. The fact that cheating is not only not punished but even encouraged in Pokemon (because the devs don't care) is one of the reasons why it's widely considered a joke of a competitive game.

I don't care if they fix this by making the game online-only or removing the IVs entirely, but it has to happen. Until then, ill continue playing randbats on Showdown.

Either way, this is just another example of Gamefreak completely ignoring the wishes of the fanbase compared to virtually any other online game dev out there. I'd be nice if the online portion of Pokemon was completely separate from the main adventure and we'd be able to pick and customise our characters just like in the Showdowns teambuilder (in addition to being able to use your own mons, just like now). I think this is one of the reasons the Battle Factory was so popular. But knowing GameFreak/TPCi they would sooner C&D Showdown than think about including such a feature in-game.

WoW offers a free start at the start of the newest expansion. Personal progression and community progression are also closely tied. Content is also currently gated in a way where players have time to prepare before races and competition starts. WoW is pretty fair with its competitive side. The race includes getting geared (split runs), it doesnt start once you're geared.

It's really gamefreak's fault for creating such an impossible system to minmax. If there was a less retarded method of stat distribution and randomization, hacking wouldnt be relevant. As it stands, it's incredibly tedious to get one, let alone more than 6, pokemon at a competitively viable state. Hell getting perfect IV legendaries is all but impossible without injection.

In order to promote a competitve field without hacking, they have to do away with the mechanics that promote cheating in the first place. Removal of IVs and natures.

I'm exactly the kind of person who would love competitive pokemon, and I love the core games, but the barrier to entry is so fucking high that I'd rather just stick to the comp games I know.
