I wouldn't say "flop" but typically the third versions of the games don't sell even half as well as the original duo.

Plus, it's also going to depend on how well the casuals enjoyed Sun/Moon. Obviously, a lot of online fans trash them for their linearity and being filled with cutscenes, so if the casuals feel that way too, they'll be turned off from USUM too.
