Yes, that is why I am excited for these games! It checks the bill of the traditional third game. I do hope for new forms or more postgame content, like maybe Alola forms or Battle Frontier, but I will not be disappointed if they are excluded.

Alola itself is too shit for me to fully enjoy the main adventure, so I just hope we get some good new features to carry the rest of the game. A new Frontier with good gimmicks would do it on its own.

The region should be completely redesigned to be more open and more varied. More interesting ultra-space (like the Distortion World in Platinum). The story should be much less intrusive. The railroading should be much less extensive. The Pokemon selection should be BW2-tier at least. The online features should be at least as good as the PSS in gen 6. I'm almost certain none of these things will be implemented so I probably won't even buy these games.

Many of you have forgotten something. Not one time, two times this was referenced, ORAS and SM.

The Battle Frontier in Pokémon Emerald is referenced several times at the Battle Resort. A man in Battle Maison will mention Scott and the Pike Queen. Another NPC will say to the player that the Battle Resort is planned to be replaced by the Battle Frontier in the future. There is also a model of the Battle Tower on top of the hill. Another NPC says it will be built near the Battle Maison. Perhaps just outside of Hoenn?

Anabel appears in the post-game as a member of the International Police and Looker's superior. She is mentioned to have "protected some tower" in the Hoenn region and having been a powerful Trainer, referring to her status as the Frontier Brain of Hoenn's Battle Tower in Pokémon Emerald. She can also be found at the Battle Tree.

NPCs from past generations appear (and can be battled)

Much better encounter tables (not have Yungoos/Alolan Rattata fulfill most encounters while more coveted Pokemon are confined to one route at 10% or lower encounter rate)
