Hello, I was bored and made a compilation of all the Alola/NUAlola (from here on, A and NUA) map differences. Discuss what you think these changes will bring/mean for the games. Below is a breakdown of all the numbered images:
>1. We see that NUA has a flock of Wailord and what seems to be Sharpedo in the midst of some raging waves, wherewas A just has empty calm waters.
Could that mean anything? Will we get to see that section during the plot, or can we visit it? Maybe we get to dive there or surf through?
>2. Kala'e bay in A seems to have less land than its NUA counterpart
Do we get to see low/high tide make a return or is it simply a permanent lowtide that affected the bay?
>3. NUA Hau'Oli has been recolored in places and the empty lot has been built (Photo Studio)
Will we maybe get to enter more buildings this time?
>4. NUA has a little beach area on R2, seemingly with a bunch of stalls? And rocks?
What could those stalls be for and could those rocks be a small cave entrance?
Moving on, Akala:
>5. HeaHea's Hotel area in NUA has a beach area as well, 2 objects can be seen on it.
One looks like a stall, but the other seems weird, is it a house? Again, what could those stalls be for?
>6. NUA HeaHea city has a finished lot, it is something different than a Photo Studio. The dimensional research building is also slightly remodelled. As opposed to the one in A, this one seems to have a roof floor? And a bit of an extension to it, maybe some decorations infront
Does this mean anything relevant? Who knows
>7. KoniKoni, the lot has been built in NUA, it's another Photo Studio.
Could we actually be allowed to enter and explore the lighthouse this time?
>8. In NUA, Brooklet Hill's pools seem to be grey. Should they not be orange-hued if it's sunset?
Is that simply a color error or does it mean something more?
>9. A's volcano area seems to be active while NUA's volcano no longer has smoke coming from it
Could it mean they actually made a dungeon out of the volcano?

Striped roof building, well I wouldn't hold out hope it's anything relevant.
Moving to UlaUla
>11. Malie is the same except the lot has been built. Building is different from Photo Studio/HeaHea and Royal avenue building
Seems we still won't be able to enter that barred building..
>12. Malie Garden seems the same, except half the water in the lake seems to be drained in NUA
What could that mean? Or is it just a color error? Can we actually see that tower and enter it this time?
>13. In NUA, the fog around the meadow is gone (and the route above too)
Is that even relevant?
>14. In NUA, Po Town no longer has a raincloud over it
Could it mean it is restored now? What buildings could it have when it's not raided by Skull? What does that mean for Skull if it's the case?
>15. In NUA, the league is visible on mount Lanakila
Does that mean we have an actual timelapse from the events of SM even though this is not a direct sequel? Could it mean GF combined the concept of a year time-skip with an alternate universe?
>16. 2 objects (stalls?) visible on the small beach in NUA's UlaUla
This game sure has a lot of stall-looking objects, what are they?
>17. In A, the Pelago(?) island is covered in clouds while the one in NUA is clearly visible
Does it mean anything or is it simply bc PokePelago isn't a new feature anymore?
Moving on, things on and around Poni
>18. In NUA, there are rocks around the geysers on Poni island.
We won't be able to surf there I guess, but what's the point?

Do these games have some drought going around or what?

All the inland water except for half of Malie Garden is colored grey. Even parts of the sea where the blue and orange meet are colored grey. It's just a weird coloring choice, it doesn't mean anything. They're not dried up or something. You can even still see the same waves drawn into the alter lake.

>20. The cloud thing on the bottom left of the A map is significantly smaller and more transparent than the bigger/thicker cloud in NUA
Could it hide some post-game area like 4/5 games before these did?

Could it mean we can surf there now, and can we surf to Neck island (even though the magikarp boat is still there in the trailer) ?

Lulno, they seem to be trolling us again, this means nothing most likely, but hey, neat easter eggs.

It kinda resembles the distortion world, I sure hope it's something equally cool to that.
>24. Just a small note that most clouds around the map seem to be the same in A and NUA, except that one thick cloud on the bottom left.
Side note, this particular cloud looks like one of the Unova genies.

Yeah, I know most inland water has that color, but somehow, the pools looked like a grey that is too clear to be lighting.
And the garden thing is too weirdly cut in the middle, so it might not be just lighting, but it might also be that.

It's a fact that 4/5 games before these had post-game locations hidden behind clouds, it's not being desperate.

People who were expecting entirely new cities/islands were delusional as fuck, this is more like an Emerald/Platinum-tier map upgrade than BW2 (though there could be a new postgame island or something, but it's not going to be anything too big)

the trailers also showed new areas that aren't really visible on the new map, so the map itself isn't 100% indicative of what we can get.
Still though, these games were always gonna be a glorified third version, but this time there's some hope that maybe they did combine a timelapse with the whole alternate universe thing of third games

Yeah, but the clouds were there anyway and shaped like them anyway. It could have been some nod to the upcoming VC Gold/Silver or it could have been nothing at all.
The Palkia and Dialga clouds are also there even if they are nothing but easter eggs that mean jackshit

Upon closer inspection, it seems there's a cave entrance where that added crater thing is, so I guess we also get a new cave to explore?
