You people need to realize pokemon are not made by americans.

what did he mean by this
>>33331830
>he doesn't know the origin of the use of "bug" as a computer term
Do some research before (You) try to correct people
>>33331771
Computer bug works in many laguages but Dragonfly is dragon only in English
>>33331830
The "fairy floss" pun doesn't work in Japanese either but that didn't stop them from making Swirlix a Fairy-type.
>still thinking everyone in japan is completely ignorant of foreign cultures and languages
"Bug" exists in Japanese as an English loanword and I'm sure most Japanese people even remotely familiar with the English language know where it comes from.
>no one mentions Golduck as Water/Psychic
I'll always find this designwise retard for the fact that Psyduck and Golduck are supposed to have an immense psychic power but somehow they're plain Water.
All of them should be Psychic/Fairy,
>>33331751
>>33331707
They both share the Psychic typing though, so why even bother?
>>33331949
Changing the typing on the mega form would have given it something unique while also tying it into the fairy sub typing and the lore behind their designs. However this would also remove Gallade's STAB with Psycho Cut, a move specifically invented for the pokemon, and instead give it STAB in a type where the best physical attack is Play Rough. I get why they didn't do it but I still wish they had.
>>33331936
>psyduck has fucking "psy" in its name
This shit pisses me off too.
Psyduck's Japanese name is Koduck, which means child duck. Nothing to do with Psychic.
>>33332023
>pokedex entries says it has a mysterious power
>literally does psychic shit in the anime
>>33332034
What if that's the reason it gets headaches? Its brain isn't compatible with its psychic power.
>>33331831
In gen 4 dragon was still the best type
>>33331716
Pure Grass is boring, but it -is- meant to be a Sudowoodo expy by being a plant that's pretending to be a bug.
>>33331733
You do realize the whole point of its design is that its a plant that looks like a bug but isn't one? That's like saying Sudowoodo should be grass type.
Normal type.
>only pokemon along with ditto to naturally learn transform. ditto is normal type
>genetic ancestor of all pokemon, pokemon associated with mutliple types at once have traditionall been normal
>type most associated with type changing
>lol let's make it psychic
Seriously, what about the concept of "ancestor of all pokemon" says "telekinetic powers"? Mew started the trend of GF just slapping the psychic type on legendaries when they don't know what type to give them and it's pissing me off.
>>33331712
That doesn't make any sen-

but fairy is the secondary typing not the primary retard
>>33332397
It's because psychic was the superior type in gen 1
Barely any weaknesses, resisted only by itself, super effective against the most common type in the game, special in a game where the special stat was stupid
>>33332433
It's basically a fairy-tail knight though
>>33332436
And? I'm talking lorewise, not balance.
>>33332433
Is there any actual difference? like, is there any instance of the game where being fairy/fighting gives you an advantage over being fighting/fairy?
>>33332449
That is why
If it's the progenitor, and it can be any other pokemon thanks to it's transforming capabilities and use any move, why wouldn't it make itself the strongest type?
Poison/Dark
I mean seriously why not, its screams dark type. Even worse though it needs an evolution. Poor Arbok

I think Arbok's design looks pretty "final" in terms of evolution. What it needs is a stat buff and regional variant.

>>33332475

>>33332632
This. GF was just shit a typing distribution back then. Just look at the en one dex. They've gotten better at it since then though.
>>33332538
I respectfully disagree
A fairy tale knight represents the concept of "fairy" to a far greater degree than a bulldog, a lei or a hamster
>>33332632
>Tauros
>Snorlax
>Kang
Hard to argue with that.
>>33332464
Its more of a design standpoint if anything. It wouldn't make sense to change to Fairy type right away when he was always primarily a Psychic type.

First, that doesn't actually explain why it's Psychic and not Water, that just talks about how powerful it is and emphasizes Flying. Secondly, living in the deep sea and being called the Diving Pokemon only support the idea it ought to have been water. Thirdly, it's on record that they made Lugia Psychic because at the time, Psychic was shorthand for super powerful and mystic, it was the "legendary type" in a way. Fourth, it's "your terrible ideas," Richard, not "you're terrible ideas."

"Fairy" is perhaps not the best name for a type, because it make you think of only European mythological creatures, while in pokemon this term is used much broader. Just like Dragon are not only European dragons. But I can't think of better name. "Magic" or "Mystic" are too close to Psychic and overlap with it.
>>33333571
Idk, pseudo STAB on biting attacks sounds good to me.
>>33333672
Exactly plus if it had dark typing plus crunch
>>33333581
The Japanese use the English word "bug" (bagu) to refer to computer glitches, too. Japanese kids would probably run into the other type of "bug" during their English lessons and make the connection.

And all of the elemental Fangs. It would have the perfect coverage making it hard to wall.

>>33333757

>>33333757
>shines a light in the darkness
Dark is the evil type in Japan, so the advantage against Dark is no different from Dragon. Evil/Malicious wrongdoers are always meet their end in Fairy tales.

Dumbass, Lugia never originated from the water. It chose to live there because its psychic powers are too strong.
Should Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit be Water-type because they live in a lake? Should Kyurem be Rock-type because it lives in a cave? Should Pikachu be Steel-type because it lives in a power plant, or Grass-type because it lives in a forest? Didn't think so.
Diving =/= Water-type.
