After seeing all outrage today
Why do you play Pokemon for most

Catching AND training Pokemon, and battling, and the exploration of the region.
I think it'd be easier to vote on what I don't give a shit about which is story.

Battling/Raising. The only good part which is why when the main game sucks (SM) it's just not fun and ass.
I'm shit at competitive and trying to catch all of them is a pain. At this point, I'm just here to raise cute animals.
I just like Pokemon, it's fun to relax and enjoy the different designs

Capturing Pokemon 100%, all variants, and filling the Pokedex.
Could care less about battling, but story behind the pokemon is part of why I do this.
First I play through a new game for the story. I'm a big RPG fan in general, and the main story campaign is always fun for me.
After I finish that, I like to start building new teams and playing against people online to test out new tricks and Pokemon.

I like bonding with the Pokemon, which is why it always breaks my heart when I can't stand the starters. I dislike the apparently ongoing formula of cool, masculine, and feminine, and wish they'd just try to make them all neutral and great in their own right. Charizard and Blastoise are good examples of neutral designs. Venusaur kinda strikes me as more masculine, but maybe that's just me.

Battling, catching, and training

What outrage?

>no "for the adventure/exploration"
Does that fall under story? Or comfy?

I play Pokemon for the adventure, which doesn't fall under any of the options you've provided. Older Pokemon games felt like an adventure but the newer games lack that feel with their unending dialogue and extreme railroading. USUM look to have fixed none of the major issues I had with SM so I will probably skip it. And unless the gen 8 games on Switch really goes back to what made the series great, I'll probably drop the series entirely.
I like putting together a cool team and exploring the region. There's nothing like that sense of satisfaction you get when seeing your team all lined up together, fully evolved after you beat the e4. I've always loved the music too

Catching (mainly shiny hunting).

Feels like i play more for the pokemon themselves than the battling. Honestly would rather just control the pokemon directly over be some trainer that can't do anything without their pokemon.
