Only a Ghost can fully interact with a Ghost. Only a Dragon can defeat a Dragon. Obviously if they took this to the extreme (Ghost and Dragon resisting everything but themselves) it'd be horribly unbalanced even by Pokemon standards.

Ghosts would have an easier type hitting Ghosts than other types would since they're on the same, plane of existence or whatever it is. It's like the opposite principle of why they're immune to Normal and Fighting.
Dragons are weak to Dragon because dragons are tough as fuck, and only other dragons have fangs, claws, or breath powerful enough to harm them. Well, only other Dragons and Fairies I guess.
