Caught him in FireRed years and years ago. I still have him; I'd hyper train him and use in WiFi battles if the nature wasn't Quiet.

Growlithe. I found it in FireRed and attempted to catch it but failed because it used Roar

My first shiny was playing Silver. I was playing in a GameBoy, not even GBColor. So, I didn't notice it was shiny and I killed it.

I found this guy while trying to find a Lucky Egg Chansey in HGSS years ago. I remember feeling really sad that I might never find a Shiny, so finding one for the first time felt very special. I have a soft spot for t he Hoppip line now.

Masuda'd a charmander in omega ruby (with shiny charm). That was my first shiny, but my second shiny I found with full odds replaying heart gold. Fuckin' rattata.

Technically my nicknamed monsters in RBY were "shiny" in Pokemon stadium on n64 as they had different color palettes


Never found another shiny despite playing through every single main series game to completion


XY friend Safari finally broke the seal with a shiny pink aipom , I gave it to a young boy in England over voice chat and the excitement in his voice made it worth it he yelled for his "mum" and explained loudly that a nice American had given him his first shiny


Through trades and online forums I've collected quite a few egg hatched Kalos born shining monsters


Notable examples = Ninetales , ditto (imposter), chandelure (perfect nature friend Safari thanks to my synchronizer) , Cresselia (save reset with decent ivs) , ect


I even did a shiny fishing video for YouTube before one of my engineering classes

Red Gyarados in Gold. Gold Seaking in Gold not long after that, followed by a Silver Cubone, and later a Silver Rattata and a Green Zubat. On Silver I found a shiny Pidgey and later a shiny Tentacool.

I got a green zubat in FRLG's Victory Road once

My first encounter was a voltorb in silver. It was as frustrating and shocking as you can imagine.

Still an extreme speed Dratini from Crystal, still deleted forever thanks to a dead battery, still haven't filled the emptiness in my heart.

My first shiny ever was actaully hatched, I didn't even mean too but it resulted in a beautiful shiny piplup, and my first encountered shiny was a geodude that I accidentally surfed to death :p... it didn't have sturdy.

Not counting Gyarados it was a Spinda in Sapphire. Extra cool since Spinda has the spots thing going on for it. I still have it to this day.

On purpose? I friend safari'd a shiny rufflet. Accident, I finally ran into my first shiny while leveling in moon (pink hypno) after playing at least one game every gen.

And the only other shiny I had before Gen 6 changed the rate were:
- A Chikorita I SR'd for in about 10 minutes/
- A Deerling literally the week before X & Y released.

The game has rained shinies on me since then with the shiny charm/higher shiny encounter methods (like friend safari and dex nav). Those two are still my only random encounters. My only other random one was breeding a cranidos with same language parents in Gen 6. (At least my other random hatches had different language parents. The cranidos I -purposely- used worse parents who were both English so I wouldn't accidentally get a shiny lol)

Been playing for nearly 19 years now, and that's just how little RNG loved me.

Shiny Tentacool popped up one day in Gold when I went surfing. I had no idea what was going on, but the prominent sparkle animation made me decide to catch it just to be sure. Not sure if I still have it anymore, would only be if I transferred it to Stadium 2 and kept it there, but I haven't checked that game in a long time.

Wouldn't see another random shiny until an Unown in Platinum.

I apparently also got a shiny Nidoran-f in a LeafGreen re-playthrough and didn't even realize it until I noticed the red star in Bank after I had transferred it up several generations. Scary to think about how many shinies I may have run from just because I wasn't paying attention.

Other than that, I really haven't seen any others. I don't really hunt for them, I just enjoy them if they pop up.

Only have seen two shinies. I've never hunted or bred for one, wasn't ever interested in them. Both in Platinum. Roselia in the trophy garden at the pokemon mansion, and Yanma in the great marsh. Caught both. Caught Yanma when looking for one with compound eyes (wanted lucky eggs) and each one kept running away after the first failed safari ball. Caught the shiny on the first try and luckily had speed boost. Terrible nature unfortunately, but still used it in my play through. Roselia when I was looking for a ditto.

I got my first shiny in X. I was looking for a mareep after i beat the game cause I needed a mega Amphoras. I ended up with a shiny Herracross instead.

I think it was a shiny Dewgong in LeafGreen? It got lost somewhere down the line tho.

I don't remember ever getting a random shiny in Gen 4, but I had chained and gotten a shiny Medicham once.

In Black, I randomly got a shiny Joltik. I loved it, but it was another one that got lost down the line.

In X, I randomly got a shiny Honedge, and in Y I got a random shiny Oddish, and some other mon. I forget what it was though. And in Alpha Sapphire, I got a shiny Ariados while EV training with hordes. Other than that, I MM'd a shiny Bunnelby, Buneary, Munna, and Swirlix. I also chained a shiny Spritzee.

So far, in gen 7, I haven't gotten any shinies, although I did try MMing a shiny Rowlet before eventually stopping.

First Shiny was a Zigzagoon in Sapphire... Ever since I got her, I've been getting the rodent pokemon of each generation as Shiny.

Got her in route 119 in Sapphire.
Everything in my party would have OHKO her, so I just kept throwing balls and saved my timer balls for last.

No matter what I do, it's impossible. My friends encountered shinies in their normal playthroughs of Sun and Moon. I sat there for 10 hours chaining with shiny charm and got nothing.

Found and caught him while surfing around Fire Red's One Island. I remember thinking it was something unique to the area and spent days surfing on the same route trying to find more for my friends.

Been playing since gen 1. Never once encountered a wild shiny.

I'm in a similar boat, but have never once used repels. Waste of money when I can just run.
The worst part is I have a, minimum, of 180 hours on each game and I tend to pick one first release, the third version, and at least one remake a gen.

No joke, it was a shiny Magikarp. Found it while fishing in that one forest in Silver.

This is before I even knew about the shiny Gyarados.

Technically a shiny tentacool in platinum, but I consider my second shiny, mewtwo, from fire red my first since I don't give a poot for the first one.

Caught one just recently, a Shiny Jynx in Y. It was on a Nuzlocke, and the previous encounter was my first and was also Jynx so I said fuck it and released old Jynx for the shiny one. It died with the rest of my team before Wulfric.

First shiny ever (excluding the red Gyarados obviously) would be a Zubat in SS. Since then I've also gotten a shiny Graveler in Y, and I've seen a few others I've found while running Nuzlockes but decided not to capture (or use).

I encountered a Shiny Hoppip in Crystal before I got Pokéballs.

Not on my first playtrough, but I don't really count Gyara and Day Care Egg
