I played Pokemon in my childhood partly in german and french (when the german version was sold out). German was a hundred times better and more creative, but fucked a lot of the names up later in DiaPer and BW imo.

Since Gen 6, I always choose english over german, because the names are getting really unbearable in other languages.

austrian here. grew playing Pkmn Blue and Gold and as with everything, only some names are better in one language and vice versa.

Feraligatr is Impergator in german for example and some english native speakers like that better but it's a taste thing and a thing of understanding the language in the first place as well.

Rak = very warped and short form of "Drache" (Dragon or Drake) actually but not used like that in german.
