I'm interested in Gard being countered to hell and back, maybe that can lower their price. But it will probably be some mix of Gard/Volc and either Deci/Greninja
Personally I'm hoping for a rogue deck like Kingdra, but I wasn't able to find any good rogue in the new set, maybe a couple of interesting tech cards will appear.

Yeah, I said that because it's a well known rogue card of BUS. The most probable rogue may very well be some of the forgotten megas which will see benefit in Garb not being so common due to losing to Gard. For example Mega mewtwo by taking the insta loses to garb (let's hope not), or even going for the meme option with mega Scizor if they find a way to tech against Volc.

Just beat a Gardevoir GX with Volcanion. It was close, and he would have won had he used Diancie's second attack to knock out my Ho Oh GX and heal 30 from his 120 HP Gard GX.
That deck is too fucking stronk.

I am wondering what might be the counter to it because Metagross can clunk itself out fairly easily so it isn't a direct counter.

It's entirely possible that there is no direct counter to it yet but there are more sets coming out. Crimson Invasion is likely bringing the Ultrabeasts, two of which have Steel in their typing. Entirely possible that they might have the tech necessary to shut it down.
I just hope that mah boi Kartana gets a card that isn't trash.

What is there to say really? We have the rock paper scissors of Gard GX, Metagross Gx, Volcanion ex. Espeon Garb struggles to beat the popular decks but still a solid pick. Flareon/Vaporeon help the ko math vs volc/metagross but Gard is still very unfavorable. Then we have some rogue stuff like Decidueye Vilplume, MRayquaza, Tapu/Vikavolt, Greninja, Drampa/Zoroark.

It mostly comes to down to what each deck gets paired with and if there are counters being played.

I would argue this to not be the case, item locking the Volc player first turn is more brutal than swinging for 100 off a DCE.

Just came back from Philadelphia.

Best deck is gardevoir. Metagross is very strong, but volcanion is extremely over-represented. Decidueye variants were as represented as metagross, but placed well compared to gross. The breakout deck of the tournament was magma base gyarados, which can beat gardevoir and volcanion. Golisopods as main attackers were outnumbered by golisopods teched into decidueye, but main golisopod decks performed well. I have a feeling that decidueye/golisopod is a meme because everybody was playing a decklist posted by the team that decided to bring decidueye/vileplume.

This weekend saw the ARG tournament take place somewhere in NA (forgot where). What is interesting about it is that it was played in PRC-BUS.

Thoughts? Seems like EspyGarb is still alive and might be the best Garb variant going into Worlds. I think it makes sense as it can punishes a lot of the energy-heavy deck going around right now while still doing well against mostly everything. You also have ability-lock at your disposal with the Garbodor line, which looks particulary clutch right now.

Between Divide GX and Oricorio, you have strong tools against Gyarados too. The biggest problem for this deck would probably be MegaRay, but Sudowoodo can still be teched for that match-up if needed.

Almost 25% of the invitation was volcanion. The deck placed but it easily had the worst conversion rate of any archetype. I didn't get a chance to play against a lot of it myself, but volcanion got dumpstered overall for some reason.

As someone who doesn't play or really know anything about the tcg, does it mean anything special when you get a shiny card? I got a M-Gardevoir EX card like this one after opening the six packs of cards I bought the other day.

Zoruark has the same problem and people play it so I figured it was fine. But alright, yeah fair enough.

So I threw together a deck purely for evolving for daily challenges out of all the evolving psychics I had. Was not meant to ever win, just evolve super fast. Wally, evosoda, fan club, Bridget, level ball, you get the idea.

I've won 2 of 2 with it. Drifblim/Gengar seem to be main weight-pullers, the rest are just fluff.

Is there some reason my worse than meme is working? Am I just getting bad opponents or is there something to it?

Either way, its nothing special. Some card arts depict shiny versions of the Pokemon.

That Gardevoir is just an ultra rare (Full Art) and all copies of the card have a shiny Gardevoir.
You can pull an Ultra Rare out of every 5-6 packs. It has nothing to do with the video game rarity.

I think that's the point. Even being able to do something as simple as turn cards into tiny amounts of coins (1-5) would be enough, especially if you could then also spend those coins to unlock locked cards for trade. I understand the online client is secondary to the physical game but there could be potential to make money from both if they charged for tradable packs and let you buy untradable ones for coins. Then you grind the cards you don't want into coins, buy more untradable packs or unlock cards you want to trade, and continue on. It would completely flip the trade market on it's head, I think, so there is that big flaw but they don't really make any money from it as is so why does it matter?

well, you could play the tournaments... and... you know they do want you to buy real packs right? this is not a doujin game, it's the real deal, direct from the pokemon company and they'll always want you to buy packs, and other products. The free online stuff is for you to get some stuff and start going, but you'll eventually need a certain amount of packs of cards to keep playing, in standard at least.

Well yeah, that's the whole point of the current system. They don't make any money through PTCGO or secondary-market code sellers though so adopting a modern virtual card game model for PTCGO seems like it would do nothing but give them pure profit (no manufacturing costs) as well as help drum up interest in the game by providing easier access to the stuff you want online. All the official tournaments are still in physical cards. All the packs still come with codes. They would just have to give more support to the online client as well, so I don't think it will ever actually happen.

You are grossly mistaken. Vs rewards "ladder" is very easy to complete. I am talking about vs rewards "daily". Every day there is 5 mystery boxes. that is 10 wins. Assuming 10 minute games each that is nearly 2 hours just for 10 straight perfect wins.

Streak multipliers do not affect "daily" rewards in any way shape or form. What I am looking for is the fastest way to win for the mystery boxes. The VS "ladder" is incredibly lenient thanks to the streak and prizes taken bonus. But again streaks are not relevant for daily rewards.

The trade system needs to be revamped. Yeah there is massive amount of trade activity but that does not mean it is even remotely good as a trade system. Right now players abuse the system by spamming 8 hour trades. The system takes years to loads the 24-48 hour trades that they may as well not exist. Waste of tokens and time to keep the trades in question locked. 8 hour spam with the buggy loading system makes it so whoever has the lowest timer counter gets to be seen first. I have had offers testing card prices by trading my packs; the lowest offer 5 packs get taken first when I have much higher offers of 7packs, even 9packs. Why would this happen?well if I made the trades at different times and as the timer ran down my better offers which were fresh were completely ignored while my lowball offer was accepted. The system is completey broken due to this. I myself never have been able to figure out exactly when the trade loading is finished. I just wait a few minutes then check.

Trade history causes crashes once you gain enough trades. This isnt a big deal for newer players, but power traders who make many successful trades a day know the lag or even complete crash. I like to know who takes my offers sometimes to see if I am ripping myself off. Minor annoyance but even I forget what old trades I would make that were used for flipping but I long forgotten about.

oh I get you, you're playing that much. Well then yeah, like people said already, Typhlosmeme or donk decks are the way to go. I'm not sure if the math adds up though. Like playing twenty five-minute games in an hour, is only better than five games that you take your time and win, *if* you actually win a quarter of them. I'll stick to the streak, the mystery prizes aren't all that much better than the coin bump from the ladder. I'm a pretty casual player though.

The first attack is a weaker version of the Smeargle that is in legacy (that's understandable, that Sableye is from years before HGSS).

The second attack it's quite "unique", but Bubble makes a better work at paralyzing.

Can't say I'm a fan. 180HP with psychic weakness, worse ability than Salazzle, three energy attachment, GX attack that'll be completely nullified if they get a KO after which they probably will. Might see some play as a Muk addition, but I'd be hard pressed to try making that work over Salazzle when you need a switch or heal in hand.

I'm just glad the UB GXs are unlike the Tapu GXs in that they have weaknesses
