Absolutely no reason to play vanilla RS. If you value battles, go for Emerald. If you value exploring the regions in the games, go for ORAS. If both sound nice play both then weep that ORAS fucked up and didn't have the good of Emerald as well as what it brought to the table and you'll never get a perfect Hoenn.
