Kukui is a goat father figure to Ash nice to see him sticking around and having more screen time than I thought he would
Got tired of the traveling and introducing new characters only to dismiss them in a single episode so the larger core cast is a good substitute IMO.
It's refreshing for the anime to not be centered around gyms at it's core for once since that was once of the thing that kind of burt me out especially since he was always just going to lose in the end,.
It's the first Pokemon anime season I've watched the first 10 episodes of and decided to stick around for the long haul with since DP and I find myself looking forward to the new episode each week.

They still have new USUM content to introduce if Dusk form is anything to go by
filler episodes and the Aether plot too coupled with the league if we are getting that there is plenty to last until the new generation is released. It's a bit too soon for gen 8 when it typically is a 3 to 4 year wait inbetween gens and they won't rush it out just to satisfy nerds who hate the current anime with a new one.
The work on the next "mainline" game for the switch has only just begun development and we don't even know what it is.

Ash's Characterization sucks in S/M, BW and XY.

Mainly because the anime trying to present him as a completely pure, good and innocent hero who is like an angel came down from the heaven.

Because of that, Ash's character started to feel less and less human.

Original series had better characterization of Ash because they never protract him to be pure good or evil.
They protract him as a real human child who has both sweet and harsh side.
A child that could be both selfish and selfless like a Human.
