I mean, the teaser was ambiguous enough that the games could end up being any possible combination of a third version and a sequel, although I suppose they seem closer in spirit to the former. In any case, the plot apparently differs enough from the original to be branded an "alternate" story, so there has to be SOMETHING new, even if the dynamics aren't replaced altogether.
