If you mean the inspiration, those refs right next to the drawings are where it mostly came from. If you mean how the evolution obtains it, that's a more obscure fact we might never know. The evolution was also partially inspired by Mothman.

Call it odd, but honestly speaking, we've had pokemon inspired on plenty of things (like Incineroar being a Tiger Mask sort of tribute).
