Knowing what your fans want and providing a product that meets those desires is what they should do. At the end of the day, customer is number one.

To me, the playthrough of Sun took me almost 50 hours, iirc.

Well that's why the level design has been getting progressively worse since BW1 and they introduced shit like Megas and Z-Moves if you hate those, so I don't think that's a good idea either.

And I don't hate Megas as a concept, just the way they executed in the lore.
Z-moves aren't an issue either but they're clearly too tied to Gen 7.
