You will need to walk a LOT for this game. It's grindy and the rewards aren't worth it but it's your best chance to be a real life pokemon trainer like you dreamed as a kid.
Rule number one: catch those fucking pidgeys. You can jump levels fast if you hoard them and mass evolve using a lucky egg.
Rule number two: save your star dust. Do not waste it in powering up shit, you will find increasingly stronger pokemon as you level up. Wait at least until lv15, ideally 20+.
Rule number three: walk. Walk until you can't anymore and then some.
If possible look for "raid groups" in your hometown so you can leech off other players for exp and items as they take down bosses.

I wish that I could spoof because I also live in a village in bumfuck nowhere BUT I went to the city 4 times in the last two weeks. There are 2 pokestops at the end of my street, my game is almost constantly on and I check the nearby pokemon and rush along if there's one I need. However, the village has a lot of history and is absolutely full of monuments, churches and historical spots with 8 pokestops all next to each other around the train station, 20 minutes walk away. I can't see gyms unless I walk along there, 5 gyms only but I can empty some unless fucking Blissey is there.

This meme has to stop. A singular artist can come up with atleast a solid 100 Pokemon designs. They have a team of 10 or 20 people for concepts, they are not running out of ideas but something else is causing a grip on the work flow.
Masuda keeps talking about "kids" as the main audience but there needs to be a real study on the statistics of the audience. I swear a majority of Pokemon fans are above 18 years and Pokemon needs to move in that direction.
It might be Nintendo urging Pokemon to continue as a tool to get kids hooked on Nintendo consoles but times are changing. Their original audience are much older now and kids are more likely to play the next Doom or GTA.

Anyone else started to get softlocks sometimes when throwing balls?
Hit shitmon with ball, not even one wiggle and then nothing happens. The game just keeps the camera on the ball forever. Loading icon for like 30 seconds then it goes away and I have to restart the game.

It's not about offensive niche, it's about using very few potions when I knock gyms down. It has less than 180 HP but takes damage with defenses such that it tanks like a Blissey, requires less potions to fix, and actually had offensive capability. So what's the best moveset for Zapdos? Somewhere between two-three threads back I think there was some debate about it.

Both have the same stamina, Raikou has slightly more attack but less defense and a whopping 19 more max CP.

However, Raikou has thundershock/voltswitch instead of being locked to 1 fast attack and wild charge instead of zap cannon. So basically it's up to you which one you prefer.

So far I've caught 6/6 of the Zapdos I've attempted today (four on my own game, two on my girlfriend's), four of them on the first ball. All the other birds I'm somewhere around 2/5, or 1/3, but it seems like I can hardly keep Zapdos out of my inventory -- is this just incredible luck, or did Hanke fuck the catch rates up?

Also, all of the Zapdos I caught are 80% or below and I wanna kill myself or at least catch a better Zapdos, because Zapdos is best birb

I'm confused by the new gym motivation system.
I thought it was meant to encourage feeding your own team's gyms constantly so every player passing by counts rather than just the defenders, but then why does my first berry restore like 5% motivation (with the next 9 doing fucking nothing)?

Thunder does 100 damage. it takes 2.4 seconds but with charge moves, time isn't really the important resource, energy is. DPS is not a valid metric here. Thunder takes the whole bar (100 energy) so its Damage Per Energy (DPE) is 1.

Zap Cannon does 140 damage. obviously better than Thunder. It takes more time (2.7 seconds) but, again, DPS doesn't really matter here. Its DPE is 1.4.

Thunderbolt only does 80 damage but it only uses 50 energy. So, it's DPE is 1.6 Therefore, Thunderbolt is the best.

You can change the settings to turn off "notify about Pokemon" and leave on the option to "notify about stops". That way it will disregard mons and only spin stops. Useful, as the game otherwise prioritizes mons over stops even when you have no balls.

Using a nanab DOES have a residual effect where around 30% of the berry's effect remains forever until flee. It does work like that. However this is useless anyways since you can just wait until the pokemon attacks for your throw.
