A while. The benefit is it's automatic and you can do it for 18 pokemon at once. If you can get a pokemon to level 89 then you can use a rare buffet and 2 rare candies to finish the rest, or even get it to something like 79 and use four rare candies and two rare kitchen meals.

Why complain about UBs? You can find multiples of most of them in the wild besides Nihilego and Guzzlord (and Guzzlord sucks anyway). So you can obtain a whole batch of them, do an IV check, and reset if it isn't ideal. And the UBs are exceptionally easy to capture with Beast Balls. I honestly have no idea why you're complaining about this when almost every single other Legendary Pokemon in the series (technically besides fucking Phione) has this problem but far, far worse. I've heard you can manipulate the SM RNG too, so it might even be easier. Why are you attacking UBs in particular?

Having less confusion and foul play damage is objectively better, so yes, "need."

The whole point of IVs is to have the best possible Pokemon. If you don't have 0 attack IVs it's not best.
