This is the first time that the anime has had genuinely good animation.

For the record, I dont watch this shit. I just see the garbage ashnime posted all around. People would bring up examples from XY and what not of supposed good animation, but it was absolute trash.

This actually uses proper squash and stretch techniques, and can keep the fucking background centered with the swinging camera, unlike in XY/BW/whatever other filth this board actually watches.

Whenever I hear people complaining abouthe animation its always because they confuse animation for art style.

The animation, as far as I can tell, is actually pretty decent this time around relatively consistently whereas in XY it was only ever decent during big important rating grabbing battles. It's much better than stilted anime junk that the series had before.

As for art style, I can see why people don't like it, but I think it fits the tone of the S/M anime overall, which is silly and more slice-of-life.

I'm pretty sure you're dead on, actually. With the amount of times people confuse "the 3D models are bad!" with "the posing and animations are bland!" leads me to believe that /vp/ really isn't artistically proficient. I wouldn't expect them to understand animation, which is an even more subtle, detail intensive skill.

I tend to like my stuff looking sharper, but SM's art style has some serious merit for the sake of animation. It's softer, rounder, and looser, so they can perform more exaggerated motions easier while staying within their art style. It doesn't look off going from goofy everyday slice-of-life moments, to intense action scenes.

Again, just prefacing, I think the overall quality of the anime as a whole is shit and has been shit since the first episode. I'm just defending the animation of SM because it looks like they actually gave the most miniscule shit that they've ever gave in their entire careers. I'm sure that won't stop some autist from accusing me of shilling Lillie over Serena/Iris/Generic female insert, or whatever stupid waifu faggotry, though...
