Everyone is overlooking how Dusk works.

It's Midday with Midnight's bangs, but it keeps the mane. Different colors. The back rock on Midday TURNS into those bangs.
Midnight won't lose its fringe, it'll gain Midday's mane, but be shorter. The rocks on its ribs will change to be more like Midday's somehow.

Newfag detected. This board had a fucking field day when Alola forms were announced and more so later down the road when new ones were revealed. The same level of anger then is what we're seeing today. It was pretty much the worst part about SM's hype season aside from the fake leaks and starter wars.

Alolan forms are supposed to be subtle for the most part; not entirely new Pokemon. You have new Pokemon for that. The focal point of Alola variants seems to lie on altering type and/or stat distributions more so than drastic changes in physical attributes. This shouldn't be that hard a concept to grasp.

The problem with Dusk Lycanroc it's that is supposed to be an ALTERNATIVE EVOLUTION, not an alternative form like Giratina Origin, Rotom-Heat, Tornadus Therian or Alolan forms.

It's something like Eeveeloutions. Imagine how boring and lazy would look Eeveeloutions if every single one looked like, say, Vaporeon but with a different color scheme and some details here and there.

Just an analysis without being just hate.

New Lycanroc may have been a mix between the other two forms, but we just got Lycanroc midday with the Lycanroc midnight horn. They could have put the midnight hair and rocks in its back, but they didn't it. They could have put different ears. They could have put a different tail form. But it's literally Lycanroc midday but a horn.

Despite this, i'm sure that a lot of furries and people who just complain about designs when they are weird/ugly than the usual are going to love this new form and will had a lot of fanart even if it's the most uncreative form in the last years.

Well the design itself isn't to bad on its own but its still stupid. The fact that its just midday lycanrocs model painted orange with midnights hair bothers me in in 2 different ways

1. Thats a lazy middle ground to the two forms

2. Its design seems to imply its not its own thing and is just the two other forms combined which makes me feel like it's just going to be out right better than the other two higher bst and all

Its also going to be one Ash's Pokemon so that help contribute to my theory that it will be better. Which I would honestly like, Rock type is my favorite type and lycanroc midday had a pretty good design but just ok stats. So this is like a second chance at using but this time making it good

All they really had to do was to 1) decrease the length of Midnight's forehead spike, 2) decreasse the length of Midday's collar spikes, and 3) make Midday's fluffy tail somewhat shorter.

Changing its facial expressions and animations would've also been nice, but seriously, those three changes above and it suddenly becomes just a little bit more than a literal copy-paste recolor.

I remembered when Pokemon Black and White first came out. It was suppose to be revoulutionary. They were trying all sorts of different stuff.
Triple/Rotational battles
3D Battles
Three Morally Gray Bosses with complex backstories (Colress, N gesthal)

And these were just a few of the features. Release day finally came. I was happy to be at walmart that day. I remembered all the theories and fake spoilers. But alas the time of reckoning had finally come. I was going to get not only the 5th generation game, but also the game that would lead pokemon down a new door. You know how JoJo has part 1-8? But in all actuality it's just parts 1-6 and then and entirely new series? That's what pokemon B/W was. And when I popped it into my Dsi I realized something.

This game is boring, it sucks, the rare candies are extremly hard to fine, Alder being the champion was so obvious and the girl rival doesn't act like a friend but more like a mom. And she doesn't act sexually attracted to you. There were like 10 good characters. Not to mention the anime replacing Brock and the unfortunate reveal of Iris. It wasn't able to surpass the bar that Emerald, SS/HG and platinum set up. It was barely better than D/P. I was bored and irritated the entire time I played it.

But then BW2 came out. And my expectations were lowered surprisingly low. I remember not getting it a week after release day. I had it in my hand and I wasn't that stoked.

But then I started to play it

And I started to really like it

It was like the other games lent it power.

I had no Idea Iris would be champion (Callback to emerald)

I had no idea that there would actually be a 2 year timeskip and not just you being some random shmuck in a region (Callback to pokemon XD and Colosseum)

I had no Idea there would be lore (Callback to SS/HG)

Or that there would be fun minigames (callback to pokemon pinball)

What I'm trying to say is that sun and moon is a recreation of this And we have no right to stop it

What do we think the significance of the forms are?
Something along the lines of Middays stats with Midnight's ability and movepool and vise versa?

I feel like this whole new Lycanroc evolution is way less special than we had thought it would become.

What if we hadn't known about this and they just released it as a special midday lycanroc form? Then it probably wouldn't have caused this much hate, and people would maybe even like it as some alternate form of Lycanroc, and would even hope midnight form would get the same treatment to top it all off.

But no, they released as a third evolution which is supposed to be the middle ground of the two other evolutions, while they actually just used midday Lycanroc with a recolor and some hair.

My point, Lycanroc Dusk form isn't a bad design per se, hell I even like it better than midday form and midnight form to be honest, but the fact that it is supposed to be a third evolution that combines the other two makes it a shit new form.

Never even liked fucking Lycanroc anyway. It's literally a neopet. If it had a more streamlined/well-put-together design and different eyes (Vulpix-esque eyes?) it would be pretty rad. There's just too much shit slapped on it plus it looks like a Balto fanfic character (a la "blank" the hedgehog).

Most of the monsters today in this game are safe, marketable pussmon.

Exactly what benefit do the whataboutautists gain from defending Dusk Lycanroc? Even if there WERE shills (which I doubt because no one employed by Nintendo would shit on other actual decent designs to defend an objectively bad one) its not as if it'll convince anyone that the design is any good or to buy USUM. Everyone has the right to vent about what's been shown and its just the way it is that most people don't like straight recolors and Photoshop. Like others have said, a majority of people wouldn't mind if we got other news to go along with this new form but THIS is what they decided most people would be excited about.
