It is a combination, so it makes sense it looks like them, but Dusk looks a little too Midday bias. A simple red color scheme instead of orange could have fixed that.

I'm on Joe's side on this one, surprisingly. Though I see wpm's too.

Here's how I see it. Next gen, and every gen afterwards, Lycanroc is not going to be considered that big of a deal. People won't care that it started with 2 forms and then got, theoretically, 2 more. It'll be an established Pokémon with 4 forms, and that's it. If Dusk and the theoretical Dawn form look like transitions between the original two, then we've got ourselves a Pokémon whose forms look like they're morphing into each other, and that's a cool concept.

I'm not denying that Dusk Form took little to no effort to come up with, though I do love the color choices and think the mane makes it look better than Midday form. It is, regardless, a minimal effort design and nothing to get too excited about. But it's cool, it adds a lot to the Pokémon as far as its long-term appeal is concerned, and I look forward to the hypothetical Dawn Form to balance everything out.

Assuming there IS a dawn form, they should have revealed it alongside dusk so that its clear that its a Pokemon whose evolution(s?) gradually shift with the day. That would actually be a neat concept and placing the 4 side-by-side would show the subtle change.

That being said, they really should have changed up the ingame model for dusk a bit more as, specifically the face, is far too similar to midday's form. It is quite jarring.

the problem isn't that it's meant to be a mix of the two. everyone understands that's what they were going for and i think most people were fine with that idea except maybe some who wanted necrozma-related additions.

the problem is that the way it mixes the two is done in the smallest and laziest way possible. the form is 95% midday 5% midnight. when it could have easily been something like 65% midday 35% midnight. it just looks like they couldn't be bothered spending more time on it and wanted a quick design to market as something new and exciting and it fails at the latter and doesn't feel like the former.

I like how people are quick to dismiss Pokemon designs when they are an irrelevant feature to the game. Stats, abilities, movepool. That's the shit that really matters.

An ugly Pokemon that is amazing competitively > a beautiful Pokemon that is shit competitively.

And this is starting to be one of those Pokemon that is shit competitively. Because no matter what a Lycanroc looks like, it is PU garbage. This one is going to end up in the same dumpster heap as its older brothers.
