How come ORAS and XY aren't fully compatible with each other? The past generation games were able to handle many features just fine. For example, if someone were to play BW2 and battled a BW1 player, they would still be able to use their special genie and Kyurem forms, provided the Kyurems didn't have any exclusive moves that only exist in BW2. These Pokemon would simply show up as their normal forms to the BW1 player, but will have the stats of their new forms.
Wouldn't it be possible to include the new ORAS megas, but just have them show up as their normal forms to the XY player? They already did something similar where any new trainer class icon will show up as Serena and Calem on XY's PSS.

There are new moves and abilities not in XY as well, unlike the Gen V and IV games, because ORAS was very much a spur of the moment thing
really though it was probably because money because if they wanted they could've patched XY

Changing it says to someone with a brain that it was an oversight they hadn't fixed.
If they were lazy at any point, it would likely have been in Gen 4 and Gen 5, in other words.
