Because Americans are edgy retards who don't really know anything about good stories or preconceived notions about what makes them good that are wrong. Simply put westerners think death and darkness are the only things a story should reflect because the "world" is that way. What they fail to understand is the world isn't that bad and that rape and death don't make a story better, in fact they usually make it worse.
