The thing is the scores are unusually high. Just 700 people had tried on 3DS NA when I checked and from those there were already scores ranging between 500k and 700k. Precisely. Don't waste hearts and coins on main stages when you can get SP stage mons instead. I learnt this about 6 months into shuffle.
Main stages are always there and the only stage you need is 37.

I know competitions have always been RNG-reliant, but this one is borderline RIDICULOUS.

I think you're misunderstanding what that anon said. You have a chance to get 100, 300, or 500 coins from the stage by matching coins like you would with Meowth. You also have a chance to get additional coins as bonus drops, like you would with PSBs. It's random. With those you can get 100, 300, or 2000.

Because Tropius is only worth it for mobilefags dude, I thought everyone knew that. The fact that they can get 500 coins twice in a day at least is already good enough for them to ditch cat for the whole day.
However, even getting 500 for every Tropius stage is worse than the 530 from cat for 3DS folks. Also considering the shit luck some of us have it's worthless to hope for the red prize, or even any other kind of coins at that. (I know, I tried 17 hearts today on Tropius and I'm registering a decrease in coin gain vs normal days).

It's not a matter of it it's worth it or not, you ought to catch it pal, who knows when it'll appear again and also who knows if GS isn't gonna be shitty and suddenly giving it a new ability without a repeat stage, just grind, go full power and get it over with.
Alternatively if you're a person really pressed in time with a rate of only 10-15 hearts consumed per day I would say it isn't worth it, there are better mons effective against whatever you would use Electric mons to begin with.

The standard team so far against Tapu Koko appears to be M-Camerupt, Lando-T, Garchomp and Golurk. From what I've gathered some anons said its disruption is in a diagonal pattern a la M-Garchomp so it could definitely be an option, also Hippo LDE 5 maxed could be useful I suppose.
However given how much HP it has and counting the disruptions plus the forced support if it has any I don't think if it's even possible to beat itemless. Also at 600 coins the entry and base 1% catch rate it would end up being more costly to try many times itemless rather than a run with items.

Yeah, I feel ya pal, also if I recall correctly since the Alola update the other 3DS users you crossed paths with needed to have that update too, which means that even if you passed with someone that downloaded the game that person needs to be somewhat active effectively killing that system. Unity Power Ash Greninja is today. Most of us have been waiting all week to use our No Hearts Needed for this.

So what's the quickest team for grinding? Tapping megas are useful but the extra seconds for each match really add up. Ampharos might be useful if yours is leveled. I've been using Rayquaza and its useful I guess. Sometimes the bonus combos at the end waste some time. Mega Sceptile is very tedious to use since all of the best grass Pokemon (Virizion, Shaymin, Bellossom) are all a similar shade of green which makes it hard to make combos. It will slow you down a lot. Aerodactyl might work if yours is leveled and fully MSUed because of the constant wood/metal disruptions

I did my free 15 minutes on Ashole Greninja and managed to get 7 successful victories and 9 PSBs (2 PSBs only dropped twice) . My team was Ampharos/strongest grass supports/Lurantis (SL2). Ampharos was for SE damage and quick block control, Lurantis was for Leaf Combo which if set up and maintained will defeat the stage more optimally.
