When I was younger, in every video game I played I would try to emulate the CPU patterns as much as possible. In Pokemon, for example, I would make sure that my team is the exact same level as my rival(s), give or take a few levels depending on if I perceived my character to be stronger or weaker than them personality wise. I would always level my team in a very specific way (Starter highest level, first 3 Pokemon I've caught - 2-3 levels lower, last 2 Pokemon 2 levels, etc.).
