Having read the manga adaptation of the movie, I completely get why they used new characters instead of them. It makes it so much easier to work them into the plot.
Had they used Brock and Misty, what would they have done with them, worked in the bike shit and a short version of the Brock gym to make them join Ash, and then just have them stay on the sidelines the rest of the movie because neither of them have any personalities you can actually explore in the movie?

The entire dub is a piece of shit. They had a perfectly good logo to use; I actually thought TPCi cooperated with TPC to create that logo for international use, just like Konami used the English logo for Dark Side of Dimensions.

That logo is utter crap.

And most of the music will probably be replaced by their shitty dub music.

The synopsis makes it sound like the movie thematically retells the first episode twice, the first directly and the second in a convoluted way involving Marshadow and Ho-oh and him dying, with callbacks to the events of the first season sprinkled in between.
