>using the Dunkleosteus from ARK as an example picture
>using ANYTHING from ARK as an example picture

don't get me wrong; I know a lot of people love ARK and that it's a fun game and that realism in ARK is definitely not what makes the game fun and is not something to get worked up over but at least use a proper pic

also it still pains me a little that every time I look up a prehistoric creature the first result is always its ARK counterpart, even in images, and it just makes me slightly sad even though I know it really shouldn't

Ok, back to Pokemon! I've always wanted to see a Stegosaurus, and there are a million different ideas for a Stegosaurus Pokemon and what its type and concept could be. Any of them could work and it would still be rad.

that IS a popular theory, and it WOULD explain all the technological advances in the game, but so far it's just the game being the game

and like I said before, being realistic is not the point of ARK, and that's not what makes ARK what it is, which I totally get, but if people seriously think that the stuff from ARK is what the actual real world counterparts of those prehistoric animals are then we've got some problems on our hands. That thing I said about ARK stuff being the FIRST thing to come up when you Google a prehistoric animal that's in the game is a real issue.

Ok, here my wish list:

>Kentrosaurus => Stegosaurus + power plant
Rock/Electric
Basically a tank, but with good movepool

>Mosasaur + pirate ship
Rock/Dark
ability: Deep Terror, it lose any weakness during rain.

Oviraptor => Therizinosaurus + Gardener
Rock/Grass or fairy
it sound fun in my head

>Dodo =>Terror bird + martial arts
Rock/fighting

>Pseudaelurus => Smilodon + Annuraaq (inuit cloth)
Rock/ice
The ultimate glass canon for ice type: +atk, +speed, zero defense, poor hp, and a lot of priority moves.

The added motives should be subtle as the combination of British royalty with Tyrantrum, or the castle with Bastiodon.

I lost it long ago, but I once came up with an idea for a fossil pair based on terror birds and glyptodonts. The theme between them would be that the fossils were based on weapons. The mace fossil turns into the glyptodont club tail, and the axe fossil would become the terror birds head. I cant seem to recall what I settled on for the typings, but I do remember considering rock/steel for the glyptodont, and also not wanting the terror bird to be flying type since theres already two flying type fossils. What do you guys think of them? What typings would you suggest?

Fair warning, you're likely to get stuck at the start because obtaining DNA at that point is pretty difficult (it's smooth sailing once you get the Trade Market and level up your facilities though). My personal list:

- electric/rock Raptor. Very fast and frail okay-ish physical attacker. Learns extremespeed.
Ability: galvanize and "Tazer"(works like poison touch, but paralyzes opponent)
Design: fragile/wiry, big crazy eyes, twitches occassionally. Basically South Park's Twitch made raptor-mon.

- rock/psychic Parasaurolophus. Slow but fat special wall, relying on its support moves and special attacks. It's pink/purple and looks sluggish, sleepy and feminine. It has a gem embedded in its disproportionately huge horn/fin.
Abilties: Telepathy and Lightning Rod.
Learns psychic moves, power gem, earth power, psychic terrain, trick room, maybe instruct

Grass/Rock OR Electric Rock Stegosaurus
I prefer the raptor to be electric, but it would fit a stego, too. It could look like it carries a generator system on its back with sap sipper as ability

Rock/Ice Saber Toothed Cat. To make up for its abysmal typing, it should be fast and strong, equipped with an arsenal of great STAB moves (stone edge, ice shard, icicle crash) and coverage (such as crunch, elemental fangs, super fang, play rough, close combat etc).
Decent bulk but on the physical side, but nothing to rely on.
Abilities: Strong Jaw and Sheer Force. Maybe something new.
Design: saber tooth cat with blue/white coloring. Shiny is more reddish.

Rock/Fire Triceratops. I know Bastiodon is near enough, but leaves room for a true three-horn.
It shouldn't be nearly as tanky as Bastiodon, and more based on the raw power and recklessness of a charging Triceratops.
Good attack+defense and usable speed to benefit a lot from a choice scarf. It learns moves like Flame Charge, Flare Blitz, Double Edge, Mega Horn, Outrage, Explosion, Drill Run, Head Smash, Wild Charge.
Design: Overall looks like a brittled triceratops-shaped rock with a heated lava core shimmering through the cracks of its body. Smoke comes out of its nostrils+angry eyes always focused on the target.
Ability: Reckless and Plasmatize(Fire type Pixilate)

While contemplating your idea of a new ceratopsid, I realized that Bastiodon could be based on a bulldozer (inb4 is a castle), it would be great if its eyes lit up like a pair of headlights during the nights, I imagine it as a hard worker constructing prey, walls, or opening roads to protect its herd.

I have noticed that many complain that all fossils are rock type, so what if GF retakes the idea of ancient evolutions, for example:

Zangoose to Smilodon Normal/?
Chatot to Titanis Fliying/?
Relicanth to Dunkleosteus Steel/water
Primeape to Neanderthal Fighting
Stantler to Megaloceros Normal/Ice

Zangoose is a mongoose, right and Pilloswine is a boar that evolves by this method to a mammoth.

Because it's not strictly a sabertooth cat, because it's not a fossil, because it's mostly a restricted mon, because it uses sabertooth as a secondary design point instead of a primary one

That would be like saying "We already have a dolphin Pokémon, look at Kyogre!" (Which obviously happens a lot, but it's also obviously quite obnoxious.)
>>
>>33168876
>Because it's not strictly a sabertooth cat
Yes it is. It's the most blatant sabertooth Pokemon you could ever ask for.

>it uses sabertooth as a secondary design point instead of a primary one

>not a fossil
So? Plenty of prehistoric Pokemon aren't fossils. Doesn't mean they have to exist in fossil form.

Well, bottlenosed dolphins aren't the only type of dolphin. Maybe those people should be more specific in the type of dolphin they want.

>>33169091
The fangs.

Since that why anyone and their mother implies Raikou is a smilodon. The fangs. It's a feline-body shaped pokemon with large fangs. And since everyone and their mother knows about smilodon, they immediately imply that the feline-shaped pokemon with large fangs is a sabretooth tiger. Except the concept of feline-shaped carnivores with fangs is not isolated to smilodon and there are numerous species of animals throughout history with both feline-shaped bodies and piercing fangs. Smilodon, Thylacosmilus, Nimravids, Barbourofelis, Dinofelis, I can go on.

It's not strictly a sabretooth cat because sabretooth cats are not the only prehistoric mammals, or even prehistoric animals, that have a monopoly on sabre-teeth.

Since it was an artiodactyl and belongs to a clade closely grouping with pigs, hippos, and whales, I actually see no reason why it wouldn't appear more pig-like. Odds are most depictions are still outdated and based on pop culture (BBC's Walking With Beasts series portrayed it as more wolf-like, and that's the image that gets circulated around the most). Pic related is much more likely.

You could make an entire generation out of cool sea creatures to use as pokemon

Who knows, maybe we'll get some Alolan Forms of Pokemon that adapted to life under the sea, and then went extinct, turning regular Pokemon we know now into fossil mons

But I really want a Water/Dragon Megalodon or Mosasaurus

more like Anorith needs a better evolution, can't stand Armaldo's goofy looks

>Cryolophosaurus
Bonus points if there's an Elvis reference on its design and it's a Rock/Ice type and with some sing-based moves.
>>33171998
Andrewsarchus fossilmon should totally be a Rock/Dark type with Strong Jaw, maybe even a bulky physical attacker.
>>33173475
I love Herpetogaster, it's totally one of my favorite cambrian weirdos, I'd look forward to that (which would likely end as a Rock/Grass or Rock/Water but whatever), and maybe nectocaris but we already got quite some mollusk mons.
>>33173727
Im not sure where they were going with Armaldo, it looks like some arthropod dino, kinda something G1 would do.

That Parasaurolophus' angular shoulder hits just the right balance for me, it looks kind of awkward but good awkward and intentional. It also balances the hip bone potrusion at the bottom, and helps frame the stripes. That design, and all the others there, look super well balanced and thought out. Very, very good, would use/10.

That's such a good idea, what the hell

Its like if Pokemon was started in 1990 instead.

What an accidentally cool idea.

YFW Instead of reviving them from fossils, you thaw them from glaciers

Man, I've always wanted an ankylosaur Pokemon. All the fakemons I've seen with that concept have been terrible up til this one. I'd use that guy, no questions asked.

I would much rather see this than a separate fossil line for each respective bird.

Rock/Normal > Rock/Dark?
