Unova Starters thread

I never understood the hate for these things. They all seemed pretty cool.

You do you Unova starters, you're alright in my book.

Objectively the worst starters and some of the worst designed Pokemon ever.

Lucky there's lots of good route mons in Unova, since the starters (and legends) are the bottom of the barrel.

The worst looking final stage starters in my opinion.

Too bad because the snivy line was really great until Serperior.

Dewott is one of the best looking mid evos and way better than it's prevolution and evolution.

The whole tepig line is horrible plus fire fighting for the third time.

Honestly hating any of them is a meme, if you don't like it use something else, we have 21 starter lines and if you don't like any we have 802 mons in total.

Disagree. Samurott is much more interesting design wise. Dewott was just Oshawott but taller and bluer.

I was 14 when Black came out but I was disgusted when I saw his final evo, it made no sense for him to be on 4 legs and he was awful.

Now I don't really mind him, he's pretty cool but I still wish that his Samurai appearance was more clear and that you could understand how that stupid "sword" works.

Yeah, I do wish it was introduced with a more "convincing" pose. I mean it has the design, but they decided it should act more of a samurai's mount instead. Its interesting but not the most wise decision.

Samurott may be a bit awkward, and it may be the worst of the Water starters competitively, but it has never disappointed me in game and I still think it looks really cool. It's the only Unova starter that has never died on me in a Nuzlocke, and I've got it to the end in both White and White 2. One of my favourite mons of all time.

Its more of a facultative biped. Similar to a bear. I guess they thought it being fully bipedal with giant dual blades would be overkill for a starter design.

Someone explain the Samurott hate. I don't get it

It turned out to be an immense disappointment for people who wanted Oshawott to be the best of the trio. Still my favorite Water starter though. I guess its just Gen 5 nostalgia talking and maybe the concept(even if some people find the execution a slap in the face).

While I can't speak for others, I have no problem with them design-wise, save for Samurott pulling a reverse Zoroark instead of remaining bipedal. It's mainly stat/moveset wise. A samurai shouldn't have more ranged attack than physical. Serp even though it's the first starter I ever picked needs work in terms of speed and move pool as it's generally considered the worst or second-to worst grass starter viability-wise.

I like all the unova starters except for >>33162678
