As terrible as quartz's dex is, I'm not ashamed to admit that I do love a single line out of the whole dex. The poison/grass mushrooms (stulo, fungio, tostol) look like a mix of the morelull/oddish lines with kirby, and they're surprisingly cute and well drawn when compared to the rest of abominations around them. It goes to show that even a broken clock is right at least twice a day.

Quartz unironically has a few designs that would actually be cool if they were drawn half decently. I'd use stuff like Plug-Oink and the ghost with the prayer slip on its face on a team.

the spider at >>33161131 really look like a weird scarab/spider until you look closely to it's back and realize it's a ''dia de los muertos'' skull, i would say it's one of the best design i've ever seen

Notice how its color palette is still limited?
Notice how it only uses one red instead of two reds?
Notice how it only uses one yellow instead of two yellows?
Notice how the colors are isolated to its wings instead of on the entire thing?

Fucking Alolan Marowak does a better job at having a dia de los muertos theme and I'm not even sure if it's actually trying at it. Mindlessly slapping things from the real world onto a Pokemon just so you can say "it's based on this!" doesn't make the design clever. It just makes it poorly executed and lazy.

i would believe it's necessary since the red of a chittin and the eyes shouldn't look the same, considering they're made from different materials, also the thing is that you can't do a proper dia de los muertos mask without putting a lot of colors in it, they're suppose to be very vibrant looking.

Yes you can. You could do it with fucking two colors if you wanted to. Taking a literal mask and slapping it onto a Pokemon doesn't make for a good design.
