Constructively, I think the desert region in the west looks a bit too densely packed with settlements. I assume you want a substantial amount of desert - it's Australia after all - but maybe the desert could be expanded to the other islands?

Tbh Id prefer OPs map over Gamefreaks straight-line regions.

You don't need to cover the whole country to hit the mark thematically. The core contrast is of an inhospitable desert against subtropical rainforest and highly developed costal settlements.

Key landmarks could be

>not!sydney

You could start the player out in the more rural, arid areas to quickly establish the theme, then have the density of population and civilisation increase as they make their way to the pokemon league. That would be more than enough for a whole game.

Looks good, but remove the inland water, make the center a desert, cold climate is on the southern side of australia, north is hotter, needs more beaches, if not every edge save for some places. But I love how much there is to explore. Maybe add GBR and NZ as post-game and keep tazzy as the battle frontier.
