It should at least get a second STAB. The problem is that Dragon is the only other typing that makes sense aside from Dark, and giving it Dark-typing just makes it even more of Gyarados 2.0.

One of Feraligatr's issues is that it lacks strong STAB moves or simply more powerful options. Yeah, not everything has to be dual-type but being dual-type sure helps it the fuck out.
