Does anyone have maps like this for the other regions?
>>

Feels so bad man.

>>33143682
But the only region worse than Johto is Sinnoh. Johto has a terrible layout, awful level scaling, a very poor distribution of Pokemon, and is the smallest region by far.

Unless you mean in terms of "comfy" and "nostalgia" in which case sure. Objectively speaking, though, it's a disaster.
>>
>>33143751
>Only region worse than Johto is Sinnoh
Explain, because slowness of the game isn't because of the region and Platinum added Flareon, Houndour and Magmar for fire types
>>
>>33143751
How does it have a terrible layout? The layout seems pretty general to me barring the amount of caves to explore.
>>
>>33143751
Sinnoh is awesome and is better than the regions that came afterwards
I love regions like johto and sinnoh with lots of little corners to explore
>>
>>33143877
I'd like Sinnoh a lot more if the snow routes had more to explore and if fog/bog were removed.
>>
>>33143779
>>33143877
Sinnoh has like 3 memorable towns and that's it. Pretty much all of them are a shade of brown or grey.

Same problem with the majority of the routes, Marshland / mountains that don't look visually interesting in any way and you double back on yourself way more than any other map.
>>
>>33143916
Why like the snow but dislike the marsh? They were pretty similar
I would like a more persistent winter feel, like platinum added a little

>>33143927
I remember all the towns, memory is a very subjective thing
I like backtracking in games with big overworlds, returning to mr coronet to explore new parts of it was really fun

I get exciting whenever I find a new HM in sinnoh because I know there is stuff to discover
>>
>>33143954
I forgot to add that I wanted a snowshoes-esque item that made walking over snow less annoying. That and winter/cold levels are my absolute favorites along with water levels.

>>
>>33143961
Yeah, I know what you mean
I didn't REALLY like the mechanics of snow and marsh but I think they're better being difficult and feeling different to navigate than other routes
>>
>>33143981
I don't think them being that slow really adds anything to the game beyond being annoying. Sure, you could say "but it's immersive" or something but you're playing a topdown sprite-based video game. Immersion shouldn't be the first thing you think of in a game like that.
>>
>>33143991
Sure, but I also think it would have been more forgettable or boring if they were just like other routes
Unique tiles are great, even if they slow you down
>>
>>33143954
>I remember all the towns, memory is a very subjective thing
Not him, but the problem isn't that you cannot remember the towns. The problem is that they're not very memorable: there's a subtle difference there.
There are two unique towns and that's it, the rest are just the same green town or brown-greyish city without nothing special about them.
I love the natural part of the region (routes and what not) but the town/cities department pales in comparison to other regions.
>>
>>33144043
I do disagree, which was my point
You're allowed to feel different, of course, but I won't lie and say they were forgettable to me
>>
>>33143978

urinonically believe this to be the best map
>>
>>33144055
>won't lie and say they were forgettable to me
You keep missing the point. It's not that they're forgettable.
It's that, apart from two of them, Sinnoh cities and towns are incredibly bland compared to other regions.

I'm working on a Kalos one right now, I'll post it in a few hours (hopefully)
>>
>>33143978
Keep in mind - you can go from Fallarbor Town to Mossdeep to Dewford and to Littleroot without ever having to trigger any sort of loading screen.
>>
>>33143978
>we will never fully explore the black areas
>we will never explore mt chimney or the tons of forest areas

Why can't we have a Pokemon game with a fully explorable region? I know the GBA had its limitations but I doubt the DS games had any
>>
>>33144067
Listen, fella, that's where I disagree with you, and what I've been trying to say
But I don't want to argue about it, it's subjective so no worries
>>
>>33144023
I think that music and/or level design is better for that than slowing you down. But you're sure as fuck not wrong that the slow movement makes them more memorable (if not because they aggravated people).
>>
>>33144118
>it's subjective so no worries
Not really. The fact that you remember them well and hold them in high regard on your heart is subjective.
How they are designed (bland or interesting) and the fact that apart from Snowpoint and Canalave, they all lack something that puts them apart or differentiate them from other towns in other regions, that's objective.
That's where I disagree with you.
>>
>>33144164
Maybe we just notice and retain things in different ways
I would day kalos had the most forgettable towns, even if just because of the close camera zoom

But, really, I remember distinct things about the towns and don't consider them boring, I liked them
I thought solaceon town was chill as fuck
>>
>>33144195
Curiously, I agree with everything you're said in that post.
Look, I don't think Sinnoh towns are that boring, I just think other regions tend to have more locations with "town gimmicks" (like Fortree or that bridge town) that make them more unique and different.
So what I'm saying is that, in my opinion, Sinnoh falls low on the scale for towns and cities, not because they're bad, but because others are better. Snowpoint is my favorite city though.
And yeah, Kalos is pretty bad. I only like Laverre and Snowbelle.
>>
>>33143877
I love that Johto has a bunch of extra areas. I just wish they were more interesting than "generic water cave."

Because let's be honest, Johto doesn't skimp on those.
>>
>>33144229
That's fine, I think it's good that we have different values and opinions when it comes to towns and regions! I genuinely like sinnoh most, but what is your favourite?

Route 5 to Route 7 is a straight line in the game but according to the map it should be a 120 degree angle

if you rotate route 7 then there's no room for route 6
camphrier town can't be roated because it would spill onto route 5
there is literally no way to get the routes to correspond with the map
how should I fix this /vp/?
>>
>>33144898
Make the road into it longer. We know it's an exit we don't know how long it takes to exit.
>>
>>33144057

>>
>>33144898
This >>33144983. See the daycare? It's another normal house yet it seems smaller than the ones in Camphrier. Kalos' area maps aren't all the same scale so be sure to always have a reference point like a house or something. Another example is Dendemille's bridge to Frost Cavern. It seems smaller in the Frost Cavern map so you have to resize either it or Dendemille.
>>

is there anything like this for gen 2?
>>
>>33144898
what if that angle instead of meaning the angle formed by the two routes, it meat that there was altitude? as in camphrier town is elevated in relation to lumiose

I think the non-very-memorable anon has the point, Game Freak has series toruble learning to program for the DS, and it really shows.

Most of Sinnoh's memorable areas were repititions of things from previous generations, but more so, or weren't in the towns at all.

For example, Hearthome city is supposed to be a grandoise hub, being the halfway point of the game, and the location of the Foreign Building, the Contest Hall, and Amity Park, and other sightseeing locations. But the contest hall isn't particularly memorable because it wasn't introduced this generations, and unlike in RS there's only one. Amity Park i found to be notable initially, but since HGSS did walking so much better it now feels very uninteresting. Fantina in DP refused to fight the player at first, but the reason for it is very arbitrary; it seems to be there to keep tradition of having one Gym a generation be closed when you find it at first. Hearthome, and the other big town, Jubilife made attempts at being big metropoliton hubs, but future games had far better, bigger, and more memorable Big Hubs that had a lot of sights and camera tricks.

The other towns seem to stretch their sights really thin. For example, Sandgem town is Rowan's home town, but since its such a short walk away from Twinleaf and previous gens had you in the same town as the professor, what's the point? Floaroma Town felt like it should have been Gardenia's gym town, but with Eterna right next to it and the flower shop as the only point of interest, it could have been part of the route itself. Places like Fuego ironworks, Mt. Coronet, and all the locked content like the flower path and the islands stick out to me, but a lot of it was unavailable normally or optional.

Not every region needs to constantly wow the player, but Sinnoh really falls flat with needlessly repeated ideas, and a lack of original ones. I could go on.
>>

Unova is a disappointment
>>
Kind of takes the magic out of it to see them like this.

Would it be possible to make a hack that fills in the white spaces between routes?

I have the feeling you were trying to answer to this post >>33150505
And you're objectively wrong, with objectively being used correctly here.
>Nacrene; town with abandoned railroads and storehouses
>Castelia; biggest (and proper) city ever made in the franchise
>Mistralton; airport town
>fucking Undella, the first "summer vacation" beach town
>Black City, unique in its aspect
>Anville, an optional location where they repair trains
>Aspertia, first time a starting town was so big
>plus it had those mountain views where you received your pokemon
>Virbank, an urban port city with one of the coolest entrances to a gym
>Humilau, unique on its design until Alola came over
>Lentimas, that tiny as fuck reddish town hidden between the mountains

Look, I get it, you hate gen5, and that's ok: everyone has their own taste. But denying that Unova has an amazing city variety (even if you didn't like them) it's like saying Hoenn's map didn't introduce environment variety to the franchise.
