Zeta/Omicron, mostly because they're complete, Reborn (I have no idea what to think about Rejuvenation), Uranium. Spectrum isn't looking bad either.

Rejuvenation is something I also tried and found to be a giant clusterfuck that has cool features but stuff is executed a bit poorly in places (incl spriting)

I'm making a fan game with Essentials /vp/
Mostly want to challange myself with level design and writing and just maybe something good will come out of it.

Here is what I have planned so far:

>No fakemon
>Pokemon upto 5th gen
>Open world. You can go w/e and do gyms in any order. (They scale)
>Starter zone is a big city w/ alleys yo can catch dark and poison types and parks w/ early shitmons
>Many "sidequests" throughout the world and psuedo plotlines to catch all legendaries
>Bad guys either team rocket or something similar
>Dungeons and secret areas that are completly optional to get either a key item or a rare pokemon
>Thinking of having all fossils availbale in these remote areas and having certain npcs tip you off about them

So thats the basic stuff for now. Can it work vp?
Should I go ahead and make all gyms dual types? I want there to be challange from the start so every gym will also have gimmick or atleast good coverage

Honestly I think you're biting off more than you can chew. I'm working on an open world game myself, but my region has only four cities, an HGSS dex, and no gyms. The focus is on dungeon crawling and sidequests. Anything bigger I feel will be overwhelming for myself and anybody who plays it.

If you have gyms focus on a single type, you need to give the leaders varied mons for coverage. Leaders that you can steamroll with one mon is boring. If you're gonna have every mon up to 5th gen appear, then every route better have a completely unique set of mons to encounter.

For the gyms I see teams based on base stats(team attack, team defense...) but maybe it's a shit idea.
