I didn't care about Lucario much from the beginning, so when the games try and tell me "You should like this because we say so," I recoil. I like Greninja, too, but I don't like them shilling it, and I don't like Ash-Greninja. Does that make me a contrarian? I think it just means that I have particular taste in mons, and that I don't like being told what to like or dislike.

Every single Pokemon is someone's favorite. You underestimate how many fans there are. Most people hate Gen 5, or at least BW1, because of the decision to completely remove older Pokemon (pre-E4) and replace them with all new ones.

Which meant that many of them were just mediocre expies of older Pokemon anyway. And then there's the "questionable" designs like Vanilluxe and Garbodor.

The Pokemon overworld puzzles are pointless filler. And they're not even challenging. I'll just play Kwirk if I want a block pushing puzzle game.

There's nothing fun about bosses that you can steamroll with one pokemon. Gyms should have more varied teams for coverage, so there's an actual challenge.
