I don't think people realize how Gen 1 material left the door open to suggest there would be more than 151 Pokemon.

Canon means it has to be confirmed by official sources. Confirmed doesn't mean "it is suggested, therefore it is likely", it means it's proven to be true in an academically sound fashion.

Fans being accepting of an idea enough to the point the consensus wants it to be the case doesn't mean it actually IS. You people need to be more careful with how you use words.

Organic looking Pokemon with "Gender Unknown" are only labeled as such because

a) They don't follow conventional means of Pokemon breeding (i.e. reproducing asexually, the male gives birth, not procreating through means of producing an egg, etc.,)

or

b) Means of identifying gender dimorphism on Pokemon such as Legendaries, Mythicals or Ultra Beasts are difficult as finding more than one type of Mewtwo or being able to study a "male" or "female" Buzzwole are harder than they sound.
