Also what sets do you guys use with him? I'm loving glare just because its making it easy to catch things and parahax guys, but I kind of want to try using poison fang and venoshock or something instead. He has dry skin so rest is probably a good option too. I know in game it doesnt matter, just wondering what you guys do.

I like Seviper and Zangoose, always thought they should have gotten evolutions or at least Alolan forms (I know they are only for kanto pokemon but that's dumb anyway). I like Arbok more though, cobras> vipers

not sure about emerald. Part of my enjoyment of it this time around is that its animations are kind of goofy and it seems really large as a 3d model because of how much it extends itself when it attacks. But anyway I'm also definitely enjoying it just as a pokemon too. Gen 3 it still has glare and stuff and I just looked it up and it has a bunch of stuff you can tutor onto it in emerald so it'll probably be fun.
