Same. HG/SS was trying to be better but just didn't go far enough. Best I've heard based on it was Pokeli/Mixeli's version:

The lead up to the battle is perfect with the intro of the song playing during the talking after he enters the Champion room. If only that had been the way HG/SS played the entire scene.
