I just hate how they turned a potentially... well, she was a better character in the games than in the anime.
In the games, she was striving to be stronger, more independent as a trainer, she wasn't trying to be into girly shit or following after some trainer like a pandering lost puppy. She wanted to come into her own, be stronger with her Pokemon, and every time she lost, she took it hard and I felt bad at times.
I almost wished that they took it further in showing a sense of frustration in being constantly unable to meet your own expectations.
They really could have given her so much character, made her into a wonderful person that people could have inspired to be, or even someone that might have been more... romantically compatible with Ash.
Even I admit that Diodeshipping isn't exactly something that is realistic. He had more stronger feelings towards Brock at times, but... he shows real aloof attitude towards anything beyond friendship.
