There are many animals to choose from, the condor and huemul are popular choices, but where are the tarantulas, frogs, foxes, penguins, and hummingbirds?

The next generation game has a region based on Australia.

Problems with this idea

Consider Pokemon regions are relatively small territories. The first four together don't even cover half of Japan. Unova is literally based in a single city. Kalos is by far the one with the biggest real life counterpart (France).

If a Pokémon region were to be based in Chile, it would barely cover the south zone, Chiloé and surroundings. If a region were to be based in Argentina, would cover only the Río de la Plata zone. Or half Patagonia. Tierra del Fuego maybe.

We may dream with our country serving as inspiration for a Pokemon region, and may happen one day, but let's get real, a game covering 4000 km is just not going to happen.

Economy doesn't affect THAT much. Pokemon is very popular in the Latin American landscape, mostly because of the anime (it came about 2000 here) as only rich kids or people from Santiago had Game Boys. I've seen Chile, Peru and Mexico are big fans, and I have no doubt Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay are as well.

Now that Pokemon Go fever came, pretty much everyone stuck to it.

Mainline games were never that popular, only the anime and Pokemon Go were.
