At least they are in Kirby and Kid Icarus.

How does a metroid's lifecycle work?
>>33106438
This would actually work. Hawaiian caterpillars, being isolated for millions of years, have these really weird adaptations. Specifically there are these ones that just look like regular green caterpillars but can actually STAND up on their hind legs, whip the front part of their body around and catch insects to eat.
When is this thread going to start?

They're born as the little bubble looking fellas. As they're exposed to massive amounts of radiation and energy they shed their previous forms until they grow into the Omega Metroid in the top right.
The Metroids are born from the Queen, that you see there in the bottom right.

Oh I see. Thanks for explaining. Is this canon for all the games? If I remember correctly, Prime also explains their life cycle but the Omegas or Queens never appear

I haven't touched Metroid since forever, but I'm pretty sure that the life cycle is canon regardless of entry (the only ones that don't respect it are mutant metroids created by space pirates amd other organizations)
