Calem is hotter and can be customized like Sun. While Hilbert looks like a NPC trainer. Still better than Nate, Nate amd Rosa were the top of garbage. Only set of games where you'd rather pick neither of the options given.

If customs are allowed, Serena and Calem are my favorites. If not, then Platinum Dawn and Red are. Least favorites are Brendan and Lyra.
Sometimes I let my protagonist preferences determine what game I mainly play. I use FRLG, Platinum and BW mainly even though Emerald, HGSS and BW2 are usually considered superior in some ways just because I'd rather be Red, Dawn and Hilda/Hilbert
