I would personally prefer Mienfoo, just to see the little guy kick some dragon ass, but at the same time watching Mienshao use it's sleeves to fight in real time sounds pretty neat as well.

i'm pretty sure the overworld models for walking are lower poly than the one being use in battles, so they may be able to make it work, the thing is how do they make it so big pokemon don't look weird and silly when walking behind you.

Mienshao is one of those Pokemon where I'm indifferent to it in the games, but I really, really like its fanart. There was once a time where I actually did like it, though.

It makes me happy that Mienshao threads always turn out good, considering how much /vp/ loves to ruin threads.

i was so fucking tempted to just inject a mienfoo into my gameplay, the only reason i didn't was because i had hope on it being in the island scanner, since i knew the gen 5 starters and leavanny and other gen 5 pokemon were there.
i also thought some of those of those pokemon were in the SM pokedex and i wasted some good amount of time trying to make evolve a few of them to complete the pokedex

Here in Argentina ever since Pokemon GO came out I keep seeing these trading cards (that are likely unnoficial) in shops close to schools and the like.
At first the boxes and packs were what you would expect: Ash, Pikachu, the Kanto startes; then for a while they had Volcanion because that movie was recent, then came Piplup, I was surprised but figured it was always one of the most prominent starters after the originals. Then I was shocked when the next set had Mienfoo in the packages out of all pokemon. A miscolored one, but still, something about Mienfoo must have clicked with the people making these to treat it as one of the faces of the franchise.
Thought that was interesting.

i actually bought a bootleg figure of mienshao on the streets, since it's so hard to find anything pokemon related where i live, the figure is badly colored and the line on it's waist and the lower purple part of it's body is mienfoo's yellow colored, i thought about finishing coloring it myself, but i've actually come to like how it looks.
sadly he didn't have mienfoo

I feel that the Mienshao line are indicative of how to look at the Gen 5 roster instead of resorting to the usual complaints and generalizations. A majority of them are truly decent designwise.

Gen 5 overall is pretty great, it's just that the lame ones overshadow all of the great ones.
Even with all of those lame designs, gen 5 is still my favorite pokedex

I actually think Mienfoo could totally be a "mascot" of the franchise like Pikachu or Eevee or the starters, because its design alone screams "fighting" (a central aspect of the games) while also being a cute little animal rather than a humanoid like other fighting types.
It's super serious face is also pretty funny when put next to the other happier pokemon.
And I say this as someone who doesn't even have Mienfoo among his favorites.
