Is hype good or bad?
Depends on how realistic it is.

Them not being hype this time does have its percs, a lot less people are gonna be disappointed after they've been overhyped. The sales are gonna be as shit as BW2 but honestly that's a good thing, Gamefreak has to wake up if they wanna release a good title again.
The moment I heard mainline Pokemon during any announcement of direct. I pre ordered the sec it was available. I didn't need any information other than the name mainline Pokemon to buy it. So I didn't need hype.
But ultra sun and moon I didn't pre order it at all. After the shit known as sun and moon released. I need actual information about the game to get me hyped and buy the game

this is me
Hype is good for the franchise, but bad for the person who gets hype

Hype can only bring disappointment.
No hype can only lead to a nice suprise.

Like many things, it's good in moderation but bad in excessive.
You can also take the more apathetic approach and not be hyped at all.

That's what I'm doing. I'm already disappointed in USM because of the horrible expectations SM and the trailer for USM gave me.A Pikachu island, fucking seriously?I expect them to be so shit that I already consider them shit. So if they do turn out to be shit, nothing will have changed for me. Though if they SOMEHOW turn out to be great, it would change the world for me.
